Rust Issues
As we search for our 356C/SC, we seem to regularly find 356's which have varying degrees of rust, from minor to very serious.
Recognizing that rust is always an issue with 356's, for example, if rust has severely damaged the pans, is the car still worth pursuing? If so, any ballpark cost on getting the rust out, and putting in new (hopefully relatively rustproofed new pans) into the car? Comments very much appreciated. |
Depends on how much you can do yourself, what you contract out, and who you contract it out to. I'd join 356talk (if not the Registry itself) as cars get posted there frequently, and consider buying a copy of Jim Schrager's "Buying, Driving, and Enjoying the Porsche 356"

Excellent suggestion; I have just joined the 356talk.
We will pick up the book from Amazon. There are many things that I will do on the car; cutting out rusted panels and replacing is not something that I would attempt, so that would require professional assistance. Thank you! |
