Value of '54 356?

This car belongs to a close friend's parents. I haven't seen it up close in a few years, but from what I remember, it needs some work. Any idea on value? It looks fairly complete, and I'm thinking the wheels might be worth something.

The reason I ask is that the owner comes from a strong motorsports family (Frank Monise, a former SCCA champion, is a close relation, and someone who I used to watch race at Riverside when I was in high school) and I would hate to see them take a bath on this. It seems that I am the only "Porsche person" they know, so I was sent this link today:

Honest opinions on the car's value would be appreciated. PM if you'd like.

Thanks,

I have a 54 also.

BTW it looks a nice project.

It seams that if you want a price you have to understand a few things

one if you want the best price then sell it on ebay and then it will be sold but will it..? As I have seen so many cars sold for way over the top money and then the deal is never completed..

If you want to see the car restored and back on the road then you need to sell it to some one who is going to get the work done, and that is poeple like me and others who do this in their spare time ( BTW I don't want the car I have 2 projects at the momenet on the go. ) You will get a fair price and it means the person doing the work has a good chance they are able to complete the car.

Nice looking car on the surface looks complete which is a huge bonus.

any more details on the spec's of it...

Oh and i guessing US prices $8,000-12,000

54 pre A

I own a 53 super and yours indeed would be a good project. If it has solid floors it should be worth 15,000 to 20,000. The parts are worth almost that.

that's the trouble that cars are worth what they are in parts and that is dangerous at the moment as they could be bought and broken up.. A resto person like my self as a hobby can't compete with a person wanting to make a million on ebay and then all we get is another lost car..I hope some one buys this car or indeed the orginal owners have it restored and enjoy it for a while and then sell it on.. would be nice if they did get it restored..
