1964 strange one for sale
I was checking Kijiji this morning and came across this thing.. I know nothing about it nor am I interested in it but thought I'd toss it on here in case anyone is.. clearly it's not built by Porsche.. and the photo looks like it was taken a few decades ago..but it looks like it's based on 1964 parts. I just cut/paste the add below.
http://vancouver.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1964-Porsche-race-car-with-provenence-W0QQAdIdZ41287357 1964 Porsche race car - with provenence Price: $25,000.00 Ad ID: 41287357 Views: 281 Location: Vancouver Date Listed: 11-Mar-08 For sale is the 1964 Macaro MK2 From 1961-1989 a company in Canada built sports racers and GT racers using Porsche and VW componants. This car is the flagship of the company built by the owner for his own racing persuits. The car is a monocoque fiberglass mid section with space frame chassis. It is a mid engine racer with the original formula vee transmossion and Porsche 1600 engine which came out of a 1958 car. The car is about 85% completed with only some finish body work and paint needed on the front and rear sections and the doors as well as the final suspension adjustments, wiring, brake lines ect. Currently the mid section is finished and painted, engine and rear suspension installed, front suspension roughly installed but this needs to be finished, seats and guages are all in, grills are in...ect. The car has a well documented provenence in Canada holding a prairie region championship in 1965 and 1966 and won the Players Prairie national race in 1966. I have most of the newspaper articles, results, programs, photos, trophy stuff, ect from the 1966 season as well as some of the results and photos from the 1965 season. I also have all documents and photoms from the original owner including detailed photographs of all mechanics of the car from 1966. Just to clarify, this car was not built by Porsche, it is a prototype sports racer built with a porsche drive train categorized as a "Porsche Special" Its been a project that has taken up part of my life and i have made friends with all of the original builders and racers involved with the car back in its glory days. Unfortunately, the kids are growing up and i no longer have time to work on the car...priorities are changing ![]() Email me with any questions and i will send some additional photos of current condition...remember this is a project that needs finishing so dont expect a turnkey car. thanks View larger image ![]() |
