Sebring style mufflers?

Anyone got any kind of idea what this kind of mufflers look like inside?

Been trying to find some info for a long time now without any luck...

Sebring type for a pushrod

I have one of these hanging in my shop. I can't say for sure if the little canisters ahve any restriction, but unless it is a straight through with holes in the pipe, I believe they are just expansion chambers. bob Campbell use to sell them maybe he could give you some insight. Mine was very loud, no restriction.

regards,
rusty

If you would like I could check mine. May be possible to see around the bend with a mirror.

Thanks Rusty, that would be great!

What I basically want to know is if it is just a pipe straight through with holes or maybe just an expansion chamber?

Well, just checked my SS sebring type. Appears that where chambers are that the pipe going through is perferated. Lots of small holes. Hope this is what you are looking for. Fun stuff.
Good luck and happy holidays,
rusty

Some progress. The engine is a 2-litre type-4.

Since the exhaust ports are slightly angled outwards I had to make the headers in several pieces. Fully welded the primertubes today. (just spotwelded on the picture)

Next will be the mufflers and the collector.

Did the collector go 1 and 3 cylinder togehter into one in the center and 2 an 4 cylinder on each side of that or what?

If anyone could be able to take some photo or make some sketch on how the collector is built I would be happy. Then I wouldn't have to guesstimate how it should be...

Thanks!

Wondering how the "collector" (exhaust tip) is designed inside?

Maybe like this?

I let my original pea shooter go with a Beck Spyder. Big mistake. When the pipes start the radius from the expansion chamber I believe they are cut to make a quicker connection in the radius, kind of going oval and connected earlier. I don't think I have any good pics of an original pea shooter, but maybe someone else can chime in.
It is coming along nicely. The ovals continue to the end of the collector then a band is formed around the outer edge and I believe weld or rolled back over the pipe. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Thanks. I'll see how mine turns out... I may have to make some kind of incert muffler into the peashooter too as it might become pretty loud without it? Just for the inspections anyways...

Finally got myself out to the garage again with new welding gas. 8)
As I was out pretty late I didn't take the time to finish off all welds but had to leave them as in the pictures. You start to see the finished product though.

Going real slow right now..

Got myself to the garage tonight though and got some work done.

Started fitting the upper halves of the mufflers and also made the final exhaust tip. Not yet welded them though
