Help with possible purchase
I am new to the 356 world (I have a Spec911 race car and am often on the 911 forums). I found a 1964 356 C for sale locally.
The chassis number of the plate on the driver's side A-pillar is appears to be 215174. The engine number appears to be P*60 6818*. Pictures are below, for what they are worth. Can you help a 356 newbie by giving me any information you can about those numbers (for instance, is the chassis number correct for a 1964 356 C? Is that engine number correct for that car? Anything else you can tell from those numbers that I should know?). I will definitely get a PPI and have someone check everything out before I go further, I just wanted to try to start with some of this basic info. Any help you can give would be much appreciated. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1280534710.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1280534748.jpg |

Thanks. I see those are both 1600cc, but the engine that is supposed to be in it is updated and had more power. How much should the wrong engine affect value, assuming that the car is otherwise in pretty good shape.

Sorry to keep throwing links at you, but have a look at this thread on the 356Talk site:
356Talk :: View topic - Negative value of engine change Something to be said for all original, but if the car has a great engine and price is realistic does it really matter? I have no answer to that question. jb |
Jb. Thanks for the info and the links.

not a problem, but in exchange for the links, the payment will be for you to post some pictures of your car and some details on it too. ;)

I'm going back to look at it Monday and to review all the documentation she has on it. I promise to post pics and details if I get it.

IF it does not work out for you please post a link to where it is for sale cause others (including me) could be interested.
Good luck with the inspection and hope it works out for you. jb |
Will do.
