new panels

Inner longditinals whilst rusty, the insides of the area weren't to bad and were sanblasted and cleaned ready for sealing with Por15, and new heater mufflers went in, panels replaced, all done now.

One inner was definitely worse than the other.

Still some tidying up to do of the cut metal remaining, but as you can see the rust was surface rust. Which has now been sandblasted.

some reforming of the hood was necessary, it was reshaped by the bad repairer back in the 60s to make it look like their crappy job on the fender matched the curve of the hood. and I might add that the length of the fender that was repaired was 35mm longer than the fender on the left.

who knew that it was so hard to get the muffler off!!!

all done ready to put the panels back onto the undersills.

my favourite tool in the shop, the sandblaster, everything I take off I am cleaning and sandblasting prior to either painting or polishing. After all I like polishing and making things shiny, I am a woman after all.

Sanblasted and repainted, now I have to find an oven big enough to bake it in, I believe it will fit in the pizza oven, however we are having a huge run of fire ban days, so have to wait.

test fitting the door frame after removing the door skin and all of the rusted parts within the frame, after manufacture of new pieces. Not too bad, now to put on the new skin and custom fit that, although a good skin, everything is only a generic fit really. A lot of tailoring was required.

Just looking at the sandblasted pieces and decided to see if they would polish, and they will, happy days, then some clear over the top. I know I could buy new ones, but nah, use the old originals.

My offsider Simon working on the door frame, glad that he is an old fashioned panel beater.

Two things to say.....
1: God bless you for saving this T-5

2: God blessed me, with a rust free California T-5

My hat is off to you, and the great job you are doing !!!!!!!

Time for an update

It is now about 19 months since I started the restoration of Miss Daisy, so I thought I should do an update.

Have finished the hard body work, all welding and leaded the joins smooth, that was certainly an experience really enjoyed learning new skills.

and polishing, I love to bring the old bits back to their shiny shiny selves. Why buy new when you can bring them back.
