austrian police car
![]() not sure i am posting this in the right section but, i am restoring an original 1958 356A Austrian police car. working from a few original photographs of the car, we have got just about everything now and it really looks the part. but, we still need some authentic radio equipment and maybe also replace the second generator in the engine & extra batteries on the back seat. but we are having problems finding the right parts. the car so far. ![]() |

very, very nice. do you ever pull someone over just for fun?
you should also post that over in the random transportation thread on the off topic board. just saw this on the 911 parts for sale board. LO's "Porsche Polizei - Porsche Police and Emergency Vehicles" For Sale Last edited by onlycafe; 07-01-2009 at 01:45 PM.. |

since this post we gained more information/history & discovered we had made a few errors.
so the car was re-restored over the winter of 2009-2010 in time for us to drive it to Austria for Porsche Parade June 2010. where the Austrian Police were delighted to see the car again and introduced us to its original driver who drove the car for the whole 10 years it was in service ![]() we then caught Dr Wolfgang Porsche taking a keen interest in the car ![]() and borrowing it to lead the Parade through the streets of Vienna ![]() ![]() he has since purchased it from us.. so rather sadly we have had to say ![]() |

That is so cool - thank you.
It must have had a double engine pulley too?

Very cool. Thanks for sharing .
Any idea , how many 356 units Austria was using at any one time (like 58/59) ? |

Only 4 356A were built by Porsche for the Austrian Police. but they were so impressed with them that they went on to buy 356Bs & 356C's in much larger quantities. But they were always "officers" cars. the VW beetle was used as their patrol cars.
