Prototype seat hinge.
Here is a seat hinge I've been developing for some 356, early 911 and 912's. The first very raw steel set for the drivers seat and now a full set out of Aluminum. I had my seat recline in the middle of a turn in the mountains in Colorado. I'm lucky to still be here. I put the steel ones on my 912/POLO (912P) car before the SLC Parade and they where very solid and always had my back. The bolt in the middle of the hinge will be milled to have a flatter look. For the 356 folks these might be considered a Outlaw look. Chris
For more pictures on this car and the seats go to tech forums then to 911 technical forum. Type POLO in the search. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by cmpski; 08-30-2012 at 06:14 AM.. |

Close up shots. Round anf flat hardware. They weigh 2lbs each or 4lbs per seat in aluminum with all hardware. My factory hinges with crossbar weigh 7 1/2lbs.

Here is a little flatter bolt head. If these go into production they will be finished even nicer. It will take 25 sets to go to production. The thru bolt will look similar but be of a much better design and made custom for this application. They will sell for about $995.00 for both front seats.
No splines to deal with. You can have a touring and sport or his and hers seatbacks and change them out in 5 minutes. And the seatback stays where you put it. ![]() |

Here is a partial picture of a 912, 911 SWB caliper adaptor I'm looking at producing. The same supplier would make my seat hinges. It gives you a idea of the quality.

Chris, it was great to spend time with you at the 912 Registry Cambria event, it was fun! And... thank you for stopping by our shop today, it gave me a chance to spend more time looking at the recliners that you made for your '67; I think they are great and it will be a good way to fix that bothersome problem of recliner malfunction. I am very interested in adding them to our line of products.
looking forward to seeing you again soon Agustin Vidaurri Autos International 760 737 3565 |
