If you like them, use them. They are similar to something the factory would have used.

Just for information regarding seat belt requirement in the US:

Did the factory install belts in 356s? Was it an option item? Belts were not required in US at that time.

AFAIK belts were typically dealer installed. There were no "Porsche" belts per say.

In Maryland, and I assume other states, have registration options for older cars. In Maryland we have "historic vehicle plates." Owners of cars which are older than 25 years can obtain historic plates. If the vehicle never had belts are belts required now? I know the current three point belt is not possible in old Porsches. (That is why a cop stopped me one day). Any lawyers have comments? Plus, what good do seat belts do in small cars? If a Porsche is involved in a serious crash the car will be crushed, no? I did install lap belts...I was given a warning, but didn't debate the issue so I installed belts because it didn't cost much. The cost was lower than going to court to debate the issue with a judge.

I replaced the original belts in my 63 that looked like something out of a period era american car. Before replacing them I naturally thought I'd need new mounting hardware. Come to find out they were factory fittings, not add ons.

Hello Les, there are four fittings for bolts on the floor board behind the two front seats (my 1965 has them). I can't recall if fittings are present for the two jump seats in the back. I reupholstered the car a long time ago and forgot if bolt fittings are there for two small seats in the back. Do you know?

I grew up in my 356 - actually came home from the hospital in it when i was born. No back belts, lap belts only in front. Which, IIRC, were an option and not required.

In PET, Porsche includes seat belts for the B and C cars, but not for the A and Pre-A. It is section 812 under the body. They were lap belts only.

I too came home in my fathers recently purchased 356 S90 coupe in 1963. It also has only lap belts in front seats, similar to these, but with P-car crests on the latch. The belts were in the car when he picked it up in NJ. Euro delivery via France to USA.
