Oil in tunnel of 1973 911S
I found a puddling of oil in the tunnel of my '73 S, almost 1/8 inch deep in places, extending from rear of the tunnel up to the hand brake area. It appears to be transmission oil, but everything seems to be dry at the rear wall where the lines enter the tunnel. The speedo cable from the transmission is the only thing I can think of that would bring oil into the tunnel. Is there a coupling or something in the middle of the tunnel that could allow oil to leak out of the cable sheath?
I think this is a separate problem: I'm fighting oil leaks that seem to be ending up on the driver's side headers leaving the heat exchanger, and it sends an embarrassing cloud smoke into the cockpit heater duct when I make a left hand turn. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Regards, Bill |
