My 911SC Weissach edition is 33 years old and the screws for the front turn signal lenses no longer bite into and grab the screw bosses (the holes) in order to hold the lenses onto the car. Probably someone turned the screws too hard when tightening and stripped out the holes.
The easiest solution would be to get some slightly longer screws. The screws I currently have are 1" long but the screw holes will take a screw 1-1/4" long. And I think 1/4" of bite would be enough to hold the lenses on just fine.
But I can't seem to find the screws I need. Anyone know where I can find them. If not, do you know the diameter and the length of the standard screws and how to refer to them? They almost look like they are self-tapping screws - with two sets of threads, one larger (taller) than the other and taller than the diameter of the unthreaded part of the screw. BTW, the photo of the screw shows some sort of dark pink compound stuck to the threads. Probably a mechanic used a filler to hold this screw into the hole.
Any advice would be appreciated.
