Johnny von Neumann's 911 Bertone Cabriolet

Found fresh pictures (to me anyway) today of this car, now apparently restored and black whereas when I saw it 30-40 years ago it was a maroon color. Apparently the West Coast distributor of Porsche paid for this to be built to try to convince Porsche to put it into production. I don't know what the cost of a prototype was then--under $200,000 for sure, but still a lot for a distributor to spend his own nickel on. What I'd like to know is any owner history in the '60s and '70s and what it might have been advertised for. As far as styling, I see a little Boxster in there, but as far as being one of Giugiaro's greats, I can't go that far, at least compared to the Ferrari split grille swb he did for Bertone.
Any news of this car (by the way Randy Leffingwell has lavish exquisite pictures in his Porsche coffee table book) This is the article I saw it in.

Bertone's Gorgeous 1966 Porsche 911 Roadster

but it's not clear here who paid for it? It implies that Porsche was soured on the Italians building anything for them--maybe from the Abarth GTLs?
