Paint Code Door Plate Question
I was lucky enough to save a 356A coupe that had ben sitting outside for 8 years in a driveway. One question I had was what was the original color. While the car was painted ruby red at one point there is a light blue underneath in some areas. So, naturally I check the paint code tag and ...... it doesn't even have a place to stamp a code. Just "Kuntharzlack". Why would any company affix a paint code plate that only says basically "paint code" without even a place for information about the paint code?

Good for you!
Congratulations on your new coupe.
I have no good explanation why the factory put a label for the color and no color code, but it is apparently "normal." Here's mine. ![]() And a discussion on 356 registry site on the topic. http://porsche356registry.org/356talk/1/25655.html How about some more pictures of your new purchase?

It's a little rough around the edges, but some portions of it are surprisingly solid. I've left notes on this car for five years watching it sit outside the entire time. Fortunately at least it was on concrete and covered.
