Aluminum 550 Spyder build

An opportunity came up last year to have a 550 body built, so I jumped at the chance. My friend Wray is making the body and even teaching a class on how to do it, how cool is that?

And before anyone cries kit or reproduction, I am mounting it on a 356 chassis, so it will be a re-bodied 356 Special, in a long tradition of such builds.

I will post pictures as the build progresses, so far the work is amazing!!!!

And if you have any interest in building your own, Wray is doing a class every month. How cool would it be to have a 550 that you built!

Happy New Year!

Prrrrrreeeeettycool!

I want one...

So - just curiosity - after it's all done... if somebody ask you "is that a Porsche?" what would the answer be?

As you know, there is antother battle ongoing in the Registry between purists and the repros...

Miguel, if I mount it on a 356 chassis, with a 356 VIN, than it's a Porsche.

Beautiful looking.

I had a shot at a 906 several years back. It was a Beck kit and perfect looking. All Porsche components. Not a real one but it fooled me.

Where are you guys located? I'm right in Syracuse - If you are out Albany way I would surely stop in to take a class!

Ds1, we are just south of Albany, but the build is going on about two hours east of us in CT. Go to Pro Shaper Sheet Metal LLC Home - Pro Shaper Sheet Metal LLC
Wray is booking classes now.
