DuPont family Carrera discovered in 1994

The DuPonts were big investors in the car industry back in the day. Some of them actually took jobs though they obviously didn't need to punch a time clock. One of them , R.Jacques, started an import car dealership in Wilmington, DL.
He bought a 1956 Carrera 1500GS and even raced it for five years to 1961. In Dec. 2004 Chuck House bought it through what he called in an article a "private auction" by mail. I was wondering if anybody knows about what it sold for then? I am asking for historical reasons, not an interested buyer at all. The SN is 55772. There is a nice color story in the Nov/Dec. 2005 issue of 356Registry magazine. The pictures show him picking it up at the family estate so there' s no doubt it was a DuPont family car.

I'd probaby guess around $50,000. Regualr 356s were $5-$10k back then. I remember my dad bought a 1957 300SL in 1995 for $90,000 and those were always more than the speedsters which were about $40k
