New to the Porsche world and have a question about a vin?

I'm looking at buying a 1963 Porsche 356B, but I have a question about the vin numbers. The car was either rusted out or was in an accident sometime in the past and the front nose was replaced. The title, engine, transmission and door piller all have the same number, but not the nose. Is there a stamp set that I can buy to match that vin to the rest of the car if I end up buying it, or is that taboo?

I don't want to buy the car if it's going to be a big issue. It's a clean car and all the other vin numbers match, so I feel it's not a big issue, but I would like to make the car correct if that's an option.

VIN tampering is considered a legal crime so it could be a serious issue. I assume the bodyshop that did the work considered that also.

all panels are usually stamped with the body number, I know mine is, but I am currently replacing a fair few panels that have rust damage, and the front right fender that has so much bog its unbelievable, all done in a bad repair in 1967. Anyway, if the engine, trans and most of the car is stamped correctly, really I do not see any problem with it having been repaired, but if you want you can always stamp the body number on the new front nose panel when you put it in.

I presume that the vin plate is in the right place and correct.

Should be a Vin # stamped in front of the gas tank if not correct they replaced the front clip if you look underneath the front fenders you should be able to see where it was done.

How much is this cars value ? It it a rust bucket, driver, or restored
$10k-$20k ? $30 + ? It does matter

I'm not seeing anything obvious yet, but the front nose is a different vin from the rest of the car. The A piller vin matches the vin on the engine and transmission and title.

I will keep looking.

I would put the value of the car at around $35k-$40k It's far from a rust bucket. The front floors will need some work, but other than that, it's in very good condition. The exterior of the car is very nice with maybe two small dings. The interior is OK, but I will go through it.

I thought I replied to this. I would put the value at close to 40k There is some rust in the front floors, but other than that, it looks pretty good.
