78SC w/ 3.2l Swap, Too Much Voltage

Hey folks, trying to make my first post and looking for some help. I recently bought a 78 911SC with a 3.2l engine swapped into it. Drove home one day to find the battery bubbling and foul smelling. Finally got a volt meter to test the voltage and sure enough the alternator is sending 18v. Consensus seems to be to replace to the volt meter. Normally I’d just order it and do that.

But, this car fairly recently had the opposite problem: Help w/ battery draining or alternator not charging

While experiencing these issues, the PO pulled the alternator, which was new, had it checked out, and even replaced the voltage regulator. So, my question: Is there anything else I should be concerned about or could look into before replacing the voltage regulator?
