ok, i havent figured out my hot start problems yet....its so intemittant and cant get a handle on it...ive figured out that it will only not start when im by myself at least 60 miles from home...
soo....ive decided to stick a hot start relay kit onto it (i know some say its band aid) but i have reason to believe my starter is okay...and i just want to have it when it happens (on that rare occasion) what do these kits consist of and more inportantly where can i find them (pep boys hasnt even heard of them) thanks again guys... |

Adding another relay to the existing solenoid (relay + mechanical motion) is a mystery to me as well. Are you planning to run another battery cable to the new relay, then to the starter/solenoid? Then this might work, but as you correctly heard from others, it is a bandaid.
If it's a source voltage problem (borderline battery?), then fix that. If it's excessive voltage drop between source voltage and the starter solenoid, fix that. If it's a borderline starter solenoid, fix that. If it's an overheating starter motor ..... (armature expands and sticks or slows rotation speed), take a coffee break and try again later or replace the starter. Sherwood Lee http://members.rennlist.org/911pcars |

I bought mine before I discovered PP. I do not know if PP sells them but Performance Products does.
I personally think they are somewhat workable. Mine is disconnected. Unit is real cheap! If you want, I sell you mine for $5.00 plus you pay shipping. HAR! HAR! HAR! Personally, I do NOT recommend them!!!!!!!!! |

I have the "baindaid". Have had it on my car for 3 yrs. This cured my hot start issues. This is on a 72 though.
