Service manuals etc for first 911

Hey All,

I just took posession of my first 911. 1983SC Cab. I'm a tinkerer and like to read. What are the basic manuals I should purchase for the car.

Many Thanks,

Bryan

Bryan, please post pics. I’m sure you know the “importance” of what you have. I have a bunch of literature specific to the ‘83 Cab as we sold our 16,000 orig mile example last year. Send me your email address to dsdepew@msn.com and I’ll forward pics of what I have and pricing. I also have an nos original tonneau cover w/case for the cab. Those are fairly rare, if you’re interested. As you build up more posts you’ll be able to pm the members here. Welcome!

1983 Euro Spec Cab... though I’m wondering why it has the us front bumper.
Temp registration in hand, and the wife and I enjoyed our first ride this evening. Very fun!

You might find the Bentley manual to be a handy reference. The factory manuals are nice but expensive and the Bentley covers most of the same information.

Side markers likely installed in bumper when imported and federalized. Easy to swap out.
My ROW had them too. Not any more.

Welcome. I would invest in a Bentley manual and then keep your eyes open for an original manual when you visit swap meets, which I’m sure you will want to. Porsches are infectious.
Cheers,
Johan

if you are new to Porsche the Bentley and "101 projects" are great resources.
Engine rebuilding and Bruces book are overkill for a rookie trying to do maintenance on his Porsche .
