Rennshift?

I think I am going to pick up a RENNSHIFT shifter. My question is should I pick up their package that includes a coupler and bushings or source those part from other vendors?

I went with the whole package. Couldn’t be happier.

Definitely the Rennshift. And definitely replace the bushings with stock. I've heard good things about all the currently available shift couplers....

Other than the RENNSHIFT shifter, the package includes:

rod bushing, precision shift coupler, and coupler clamp. What else would I be wise to replace?

Also, does anyone know if any of the 917 replica shift knobs will fit the RENNSHIFT?

What connector comes with the 917 knob? The Rennshift has stock OD for stock knobs with crush sleeves and a threaded ID for others.

Don't miss the cup bushing on the bottom of the shift stick, though this may come with the Rennshifter.

Before I pull the trigger I thought I would run my parts list by those in the know:

RENNSHIFT Shifter
Jwest Shift coupler clamp
Stromski shift coupler
Shift Rod bushing (tunnel)
Ball Cup bushing for lever

Does this cover everything, I think it's everything but wanted a see of knowledgable eyes.

JWest makes a really nice longer cone screw with the provision of a lock nut. Lifetime use rather than the stock one with the limiter use thread locker compound.

It replaces the one that ships with the Stomski coupler? Jwest sells it in their coupler rebuild kit, but not listed separately.

You will love the Rennshift, I went with the 2” longer shifter and everyone says it feels just right... funny but it almost shifts as nice as my 997 now! Before it was stirring molasses!

Before my Rennshift, I was shocked at how bad the stock shifter was - even with new bushings.

It’s pretty good now with the Rennshift and PSJ (with a careful adjustment).

I'm pretty sure the ID thread on the Rennshift is 3/8-24. I made my own shift knob out of some 1 7/8 in (47.6mm) snooker balls. IIRC the 917 knob is 47mm so mine is reasonably close in feel.

Just a few of the color options.
