Cracked Alternator Fan: Is this fixable?
Hello All,
I noticed this crack in alternator fan of my 88 the other day. And was curious if this would be a repairable crack? The only thing I can guess, is it was damaged when I broke a fan belt last year, and just didn't notice it. I know there are a few on here that can weld/repair them, but from what Ive read, the later cars Mg fans were more difficult to repair. Thoughts: Thanks!

that's not a belt. looks like something serious hit that , unless you were trying to grind it or something.

Send your photos to Mark Moshagan on this board; if it can be salvaged he can do it.

Mine has the same condition on my 87.
It's internal corrosion causing bulging outward touching the belt. Been like that for nearly a decade I've owned the car.

I have redone 100s of them I have a few I am doing when I return from vacation. It is probably fixable but you have to go into it realizing its sometimes a 50/50 shot with that spot. I still have one I play with from time to time that eludes me.. Attached are pictures of some mag repair and my stainless work and you be the judge if you think I know what I am doing

The crack would have to be ground out and then welded back in. Probably fixable.. Its not really a flat fee. Just time and materials.
