Canadian Speedo question.

I live in a kilometer country but my speedo is in MPH. Have any of you put a new face on your speedo? I know the odometer will be out, but that is not important.

Over here in Europe there are several companies that change the face of the speedo from MPH to KM/H. Also possible to change the ODO wheel for the correct one, so the ODO meter counts KM's

So it is possible, but I don't know if you are willing to ship it to the EU

I know there are companies in the US that do it, a quick Google search turns up:

Auckland Speedometer Services

I want the speedo in km myself. I drive so much faster in miles. 60 miles and 60km is a big difference, :-)

I would be surprised if North Hollywood doesn't do it even though they are a US company. Fortunately I have a Canadian car so no worries for me ... oh as a matter of interest

my car is 78 and km/hr only . not combo guage.

Few year back sent mine off to North Hollywood, they converted it to Kms, fixed the odometer, and calibrated it.
Had it back in less then two weeks from when I posted it in the mail.
Contact them for current pricing and turn around timing.

I am in Canada and I had my speedo changed by North Hollywood because I like the euro speedo look better. They changed the odometer to read the correct KM's. Cleaned and lubed as well. Was $$ but it looks great.

North Hollywood did something like this.

And to a 356 speedo

Palo Alto does it also.

Thanks Guys. But... does anyone know where I can just buy the kilometer face. I've got a spare speedo to do the conversion on so if I can't get the needle back on it doesn't matter.

Speedo

I bought one of these conversion face plates, print quality was bit so so. But the odo windows did not line up at all. The company has the ability to take your money but not the ability to return your money, when you return their defective part. I have an in store credit still out standing for purchase price only, not including the cost of shipping both ways.

Previous experience with them has been good, this one, not so much.

See post for pictures

Pendulum Outlaw, Build, Adventures and Misadventures

I would ask them to verify the part will work before ordering.

Thanks JJ and Tom. Things like a bad fit annoy me, so I'll wait and buy a used one around here with kilometers on it already. Unless a US person has a Euro import they want a MPH speedo for and want to swap?

Bill,

Post a WTB original dial face, I'm sure someone must have salvage some.

Of course be on the the lookout for the scammer...

Thanks JJ. Someone here in NZ has one they put up for sale every year or two that doesn't get bought - it's slightly expensive. I guess I'll just wait for that to appear sometime.

Around here we have so many different speed zones. 30km in shopping areas, 40 past schools, 50 around the city, then 70, 80 etc to be "safe" in hazardous areas and so on.
