Porsche 3.2 disconnect switch
I have a 1985 -911, thinking of installing a kill switch, mainly for parasitic drains...anyone out there have one installed and if so, where did you locate the switch and what brand/make of switch do you go with...Pictures would be nice, Thanks.

How long is it taking for the drain to kill your battery? My '86 can start without issue after a few weeks of sitting after I chased down my parasitic drain issue -- in my case, the driver's side door pin switch was dirty and didn't turn on the dome light -- turns out the pin switch also triggered a relay to shut off the power window circuit and the still-active power window circuit drained my battery within a week. There are a lot of posts on how to chase down (and resolve) parasitic drains --

I noticed it June 22 when I attempted to start the car and no juice at all----put a charger on it and it was good....drove the car a few time since then...the heat has limited me driving it and noticed today it was dead...right now have a CTEK charging the battery up...not sure of the extreme heat or something else drawing the power.

The 22nd was a little over a week and you have driven it a few times since then. It's dead now? That sounds like a big drain to me that certainly needs to be addressed. A main battery disconnect is a band-aid solution at best.
Sorry I couldn't answer your original question. The only time I have seen those on 911s has been for racing and those switches were external. I assume you don't want an external switch. |
