Confused but happy
Now I'm really confused.
You may have read my post of a couple of days ago - I was having problems with my parking / tail lights. Having spent a couple of hours trying to trace the fault, I traced it to what appears to be a diode, part number 911.617.108.00 Funny thing is, when I take the diode out of the circuit everything works as it should. The parking lights work on either side with the indicator stalk and both sides come on with the light switch. Only the left side works using the light switch with the diode in circuit. What does this diode do? Do I really need it if everything seems to work properly without it? ------------------ Alan Brown 86 Carrera 3.2 |

A diode blocks current flow. It will let current flow in one direction, but not in the other direction. That diode may be used to prevent current flow to another component in the circuit which may be connected to it. Steve |
Steve? Just want to say thanks for your answer. This electric ignoramous thanks you!
If anybody had asked me before what a diode did, I wouldn't have had a clue. |
