Can you tell what size the wheels are, without taking the wheels

off of the vehicle? People like to guess, but I want to know if there is another way instead of jacking the car up and taking the wheels off.

Hi, if you post a picture i can tell you what size the rims are ..if that is the Q? Of course it must be Fuchs...

as Ivan indicated, 16x6, 16x7, 16x8 and 16x9 inch fuchs each have unique features that make it relatively easy to distinguish from fotos -- suspect the same can also be said for 15" fuchs . . .

for a '76 Carrera oe std was 6 & 7 x15 185/70 & 215/6
option1 was the same tires on 7 & 8
option2 was 7 & 8 w/ 205/50 & 225/50 tires

your picture appears to show 7 & 8, probably option 2 tires but hard to tell from here

Thanks, Bill. Front 7 205/50, Rear 8 225/50 tires.
The tires read 205/50 & 225/50 ZR 15. The ZR 15 is what?

One last question in regard to the finish on the fuch wheels. Does anyone have a pic of what the Turbo finish and the outer barrel polished and then (milky clear) anodized looks like?

donporfi 07-11-2018 04:20 PM

Z speed rating
R radial
15 wheel diameter

When I took a tape measure, the wheel measured 16, that's why I am asking. This is confusing.

I imagine you are measuring the lip, not the the actual wheel diameter.

So you probably have option2, that's the same as was oe on my '76 Carrera. It also came w/ a 300 km/hr speedometer that was calibrated for the shorter tires.

Option 2 was a one year only choice that was the most efficient every offered.

I believe you are correct seeing that you have the same vehicle as mine.
I am in the process to restoring the wheel to originality. Doing it myself.

Bill, this is what I have been told: First, the spokes anodized and the outer rough offset with the smooth lip. (similar to the 74-77S but wider wheels)

Second, the center black with the outer rough offset and smooth lip. (like 75 Carrera USA)

Third, the center black with the offset and lip smooth. (Like 75> Turbo and all 16" wheels)

I want to do the third option but I don't know what the finish looks like. What is the Turbo finish that has the outer barrel polished and then (milky clear) anodized? This became available as a option in 76 but very few had them.
