Post Stone chip in windshield - effect tech inspection?

OK, so I am driving down the freeway about 1/4 mile before my exit and BAMM. Big rock chip just left of my line of sight in the windshield. Insurance is paying for repair not windshield. Repair looks like crap (although better). No cracks just a round chip just smaller than a quarter.

Even the repair guy said it is going to look like crap.

So, my real Q is: Will this effect my DE event or autocross tech inspection?

There is no cracks, the repair is guaranteed to have no cracking.

But of course, it does mess with my eyes when driving at night.

I am looking to get this replaced- eventually(I changed my deductible to $250). New windshield from dealer is $788, this is with antenna/tint windshield, installation is 2.5 - 3.0 hrs @ $90. I have found aftermarket glass for $500 installed, but I went that route last time and it looks like crap (many visible flaws).

TIA

Nick,
I have two small stone chips in my windshield, and at the last DE @ Thunderhill, they didn't say a word. I can't speak for other places though.

What DE's events are you planning to do? Any at Thunderhill in the next few months? They have a time trial coming up in the middle of December that I really want to do, but I'm in the process of buying a new house, and I'm strapped for $$$$.

I assist our local PCA tech inspector, and we don't even look at the windshield. As long as it's not spiderwebbed, I wouldn't say a word.

The big things are brakes, wheel bearings, lugnuts torqued, no front carpets, solid pedals, and a steering wheel that isn't going to fall off. Anything else...well, you should be reasonably intelligent. You chose the right car.

I have a paving Co. in Truckee, CA and we get claims all the time for chiping and cracking windshields from our trucks...I spoke to a glass shop that we use the other day and she said it was illegal to do "chip repair" if it was anywhere near the line of sight on the drivers side.

Hope this helps & I hope more that it wasnt one of our trucks!!!!!
