And another Clutch Adjustment issue
 

I seem to always have fun with my clutch adjustment every time I go in there to do something.:mad:

I just rebuilt my pedal cluster when when I put it back in and reconnected the clutch I couldn't get it adjusted correctly. Since I had one in my bin I figure it was a good time to replace the cable anyway... which I did. I also threw in a new helper spring while I was doing that.

I adjusted the clutch and it seemed to be working fine for 5 or 6 miles... Then It started to degrade to the point where unable to find the gears. Seemed to shift fine when the car wasn't running..

Luckily was unable to chug it home.

Was it just barely in tolerance and stretched a little or do I have another issue somewhere..

Also, the clutch is very low to the floor where it engages and I'd like to have it engage a little higher up ( Yea - I'm short )..

Is this done via the clevis at the pedal or do I adjust via the cable nuts/stop nut underneath?

couple things

1. your change after you start driving is usually indicative of the cable sheath was not seated properly in the receiver in the body. double check that. it will likely be fine now as you have pulled it in a little ( you may have to adjust at the clevis end again now that its seated though ) .

2. where the peddle sits is determined by the two 15mm nuts. spec is to set adjust until the gap is 1.1mm if I remember correctly , but you can adjust from that until the pedal is where you like it when you push the pedal down it has to take up the 1.1 mm gab before engaging the clutch. you can adjust the gap more or less depending where you want it to engage. I'm 5'7" and the spec was fine for me. But I would make sure item one is good first.

tip . ALWAYS make sure the helper arm is free and well lubed and not binding on your cross shaft before any clutch adjustment. Also make sure you have the required seals ( mentioned a few threads ago. )

If you have enough turns into the clevis, >17 the adjustment is back on the pair of 15mm nuts on the beldin shield under the trans. The further you push the beldin forward brings the pedal up to the level of the brake pedal the more adjustment in the same direction will bring clutch engagement up from the floor.

After going back under the car the guide tube not being seated was likely the issue. The gap was way off.

Corrected and it took her for a drive..
