HELP!-Side window removal question
I'm in the middle of replacing the driver's side window on my 911SC Targa. Somebody had installed what I believe to be a coupe's window and it doesnt fit right. I've removed the window, but I'm not sure how to take the glass out of the channel bracket. My car door is in pieces and I'm not sure how to proceed!
It appears that there is some goop in the channel holding the glass. What kindof goop is this and how do I take the old glass out of it? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks! |

It took a couple of hours to get the glass out of the channel and the rubber went with it. I used an exacto knife and really had to work at it prying and such. There's nothing in the channel but bare (a bit rusted) metal.
I bought some Permatex Black Super Weatherstrip Adhesive. Do you think that will work? |

This window was replaced before and there was nothing but some sortof black RTV stuff holding the glass in the channel. Is that correct? Is there supposed to be something else? It looks like I'm going to have to do the same thing, but I sure would like to make it right.

Thanks for the pic, that's EXACTLY what I needed. I owe you one! You da man!
Looks like some previous owner just glued the glass into the channel...what a dork. Looks like it's gonna be awhile before I put her back together again :( |
Alright, I just ordered them :) You saved me from making the same mistake that the foo before me made.
Thanks again. |

;) thanks for the PM... nice |
Oh yeah... don't forget the regulator spring center pin, that comes in different flavors.. as long as your way in there/hands dirty.. a soft old pin is a PIA.. make sure your year had the hard pin.. if Wayne can't help on that info, I'd then call Stoddard

Once again...Ron "done good" :)

Hey Matt,
I have the same year Targa and need to do something similar. I can't figure out though whether the channel the window sits in separates from the regulator or whether I have to pry the window from its channel while sill in the door. How did that work for ya? TIA! |
