Looking for part that headlight screws in to.

Background: I have lightweight fiberglass panels on some part of my car, one being the front fenders where the headlights attach. This will come into play.

So, replacing the ring on my headlight and noticed that on one side, I don't have the part that the headlight assembly screws into. The previous owner had just screwed right through the fiberglass to attach the headlight. Sweet.

So, does that part exist that attaches inside the headlight area to the body that the headlight assembly attaches to? The other side has what looks like a long metal tab with a bent piece at the end that sticks up and the headlight screws into. Looking for that piece.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

That tab is homemade. On stock fenders the headlight bucket is made of steel and the tabs are attached to it. You should just copy the tab for the other side, unless you want to cut out the entire bucket and bond a new one in (a lot more expense, work, and risk of screwing up).

I was afraid that wasn't a stock part. Not sure how to replicate that piece. Maybe just head to Home Depot or auto store and see if I can find something similar I guess.

I'd start with Home Depot (or a marine supply store to get stainless?) -- not looking for too much strength for the part, just something to secure that nut -- also, many folks have had fixed issues with the thread stripping on the fender fastener that the headlight screws into by epoxying/welding the appropriate sized nut onto the fender fastener - you could easily do the same with your homemade solution, which should make it easier to conceptualize/fabricate (as you don't need to find/use .

Finally, keep in mind that the 911-specific h4 headlight assemblies are a bit of a challenge to fit to "normal" fenders -- suggest you read up on others' challenges on this front and others' solutions to their coming loose at inappropriate times (i.e when driving over a bump) and devise a solution to avoid running over your H4s

Yeah that's exactly what happened to mine. Came loose after braking hard and fell right off. Headlamp broke and had to get a new one. They're not cheap so wanna make sure it doesn't happen again.

The issue folks have with these on "normal" fendersis getting them to hook/seat properly into the ridge on the top of the fender and otherwise seal/lock securely together. Since you have FG fenders that don't appear to have that ridge, I'm unclear on how your h4/fenders are interfacing and how this fitting is supposed to work in your case. At the end of the day, you may need to become even more creative here -- I'm imagining using baling wire or something similar attached to the back of the headlight and extending through the back of the headlight bucket into the frunk that you'd use to pull the back of the assembly into the bucket and then affix to something secure in the frunk to securely hold the headlight in from the back. Suspect the fg fenders were designed to hold racecar dummy headlight covers, not real h4s.

Well there's a metal tab on the top of the fender that the headlight sits into. You can see it in the pic above. The other lamp is rock solid. Doesn't move at all. I just don't think this one was seated properly in that tab, and then perhaps the screw at the bottom wasn't tight.

I was thinking about some strategically placed silicone around the edge to help hold it. Then if I do need to take it off, I'd have to use a knife of some sort to help cut the silicone off. Would help with seal too.

However, perhaps a wire of some kind into the frunk may be a better idea. I'll do some looking.
