Aftermarket oil cooler

Has anyone used the aftermarket front oil cooler that is sold by our host?

If you're talking about the Carrera front fender cooler, yeah I have one.

Pelican used to carry Elephant Racing oil coolers. I purchased a passenger fender one several years ago from Pelican. But had to call ER to get all the pieces I needed.

Great system by the way.

I bought one, but promptly returned it. The first thing I noticed was the strong smell of spray paint when opening the box. Second red flag was the booger welds visible when looking down thru the fitting orifices that were clearly blocking 1-2 rows of the cooler. Also, the fittings do not come blocked or capped and are exposed to debris infiltration.

I opted for the Elephant Racing Wide Mouth and could not be happier.

How about the Mocal one? I’m old enough that I still have my Turbotrol cooler from my ‘75 Targa

I have had mine for 4 years. I don't drive the car much but have never had an issue with temps.

I had Mocal 44 row and now have Setrab 50 row. Sourced from BAT, not the host.

I’ve had mine 5 years. Probably about as long as it’s been available. I was searching for affordable methods for a while to reduce operating temps of my turbo engine and this just seemed to appear so I bought it. Works well. I’ve also added home grown fans and switches.

Any well-made external cooler will be better than none. The recommendations from current users here (BAT, Mocal, Earls, factory, etc.) should be fine. If possible source the largest cooler that will fit. A fan might be mandatory if ambient temps are high and/or if buried under a fender.
