help wiring alternator

ran a search but came up empty.
background; engine is going into a 912. I'll sort out that part of the wiring later but want to finish up fitting the new fan shroud. alternator is internally regulated & there may be a mismatch w/ my harness.
I know where to mount the large red/white wire, but that's all I know. brown is ground but I'm not sure which post to connect. (I'll run another brown wire to the case)
black wire ?
small red wire ?

all help appreciate.
TIA
jerry

The large one is the + 6mm nut
The brown is ground, the next smaller stud
The black is taped off and not used with on board VR
The red is the dash light showing current.
Make sure the alternator is positioned so the
Fan extension fits in the VR properly, usually top or bottom

The large one is the + 6mm nut upper left in the photo, got it.

The brown is ground, the next smaller stud @ the 6 o'clock position ?

The black is taped off and not used with on board VR simple, got it.

The red is the dash light showing current. marked D- ? upper
right ?

Make sure the alternator is positioned so the
Fan extension fits in the VR properly, usually top or bottom

mine is shrunken / deformed & I did have to modify it a bit for clearance.

No, D- will be ground. The bottom six o’clock is the dash light.
You need extension and alternator properly positioned to aircooled cylinder 1 and 2

Here is a photo of the stock alternator wiring prior to removal. The bottom of the photograph is the rear of the vehicle.
