Yellow H4 Lens?
I have looked around and searched, finding maybe three options Krylon stained glass paint, some kind of yellow film, or Bosch H4 yellow lenses from Sierra Madre.
I was wondering if anyone has tired any of these options and what the results were? My car has a bit of a track rat look, and so I thought I would finish it off with yellow light lenses and black rings. |

I got mine from AASE. I never ended up putting mine on so I can't speak to the functionality

I have OEM Bosch H4 lenses on my 1970 911 Rally car and I will be changing them to clear because of other details that I am adding and the "color way" will become too busy if I leave the yellow. I like them, but I think there may be some loss of light due to the yellow -- I don't know. Either way, I have driven it at night and there is enough light to drive at reasonable speeds.
If you want my yellow H4's, shoot me a PM -- Jim ![]()

Just bought a set from Carbone...$120ish with shipping. They took maybe 2 weeks to get here from Poland, but they look good...nice and thick.

I used yellow H4 lenses- loved the look but dreaded driving at night. Doubly so in the rain. They are a compromise- look great but compromise function. YMMV...

I painted my H4s with stained glass spray over five years ago. Works excellent and only costs $7.00
The key is to paint the insides. That way the paint won’t chip. And, if you decide you don’t like it you can always remove it easily with lacquer thinner.

The yellow lenses definitely do sacrifice some brightness.

Yea, I don't drive the car at night, and really like the look. Who knows I may hate it and change it, which makes the Krylon an interesting option.

One of the reasons I like H4s, and 911s in general, is because of performance. With relays (which should be installed in ALL classic 911s BTW...do your homework on the amount of current flowing through your stalk switch), you can use bulbs that are 90...100...130 watts. When I am driving at night on low beams, I can see very well. (I am old, and the world has gotten darker) When I am driving at night on high beams, it is DAYLIGHT. I can see for a mile.
I might be tempted to yellowize my fog lights, but I will keep my bright headlights thank you very much.
