Fuel Injector question

The car is 78 Euro 911sc with ~ 88K miles

My fuel mileage has been lousy lately. I read in another thread injectors can be cause of this.

So is there a difference in injectors between the Euro and US cars. Also Is there a larger injector (kind of defeats the fuel mileage boost arguement

that will increase performance

Also I was looking in the catalog. I found the following items

Fuel Injector, CIS, 911 (1974-83) 0-437-502-004 $29.95
Injector Sleeve, 911 (1974-83) C-110-886-03 $3.25
Injector Sleeve O-Ring, (14 X 3mm) 911 (1974-83) K-701-446-40 $1.50
Injector O-Ring, (6 X 5mm) 911 (1974-83) K-701-423-40 $0.80

If / When I change out the injectors do I need to repalce all the above items. Thanks

I would recommend taking them out and having them cleaned.
Local shops that deal with diesel engines etc. can do this.
I that doesn't make a difference you can go the change route.

Dr. O.,

You only need to change the injector o-ring, if you go that route. To replace the sleeve o-ring, I believe the intake runners need to come off because the original "orange" sleeve is held in by three machine crimps. Sorry, but I don't know what those are called. I just cleaned my old injectors in a b12 chemtool bath and a blast of compressed air. I set my compressor for about 50 lbs and looked for a uniform cloud accompanied by a unique sound. One of the injectors did not sound like the rest... So now I have 5 good stand-by injectors.

Thanks for the info Tony. What kind of TDI is that. I have a 00 Jetta GLS TDI

Does anyone know if the jectors are the same between ROW and US spec.

How about larger Injectors
