Or is it the Aero, 993, 964 turbo or 968 mirror?

I believe I have the C2 Turbo or Aero mirror. I'll take them off the car to trace this weekend if no one has a set sitting around unmounted.

Yes.

To clarify: the holes are the same the overall footprint is not.

Sorry, thought John's response was the answer you needed.

Do you need a template or measurements to make holes in the door to accomodate the mirror(s)?

Please elaborate on what you're trying to accomplish.

(bump). Sounds like you need to find someone with a bare door shell who can take some measurements of the existing holes for you. Although, if you have door shells without factory mirror holes, you might consider going with the Ruf 935-style mirrors. That is, if you are trying to (re)create the car of your screen-namesake.

PM me with your fax number and I will get it to you tomorrow.

I have this pic but it will not translate well

the way I did it was to put the paper edge agaist the top of the door molding and the line that you see is the front edge of the molding. It is directly in line with the trailing edge of the back hole.

I tried the fax number but it just continued to ring. I could use an address to send it to.

I did not have time this week to disassemble my mirrors, but I did find a couple related threads with measurements. Together with H20s info you should be off to a good start.

NOTE: Apparently there are embossed marks on the inside of the door skin to help position The templates below are for the PASSENGER SIDE ONLY.

From Roninlb:

Passenger Side Mirror Installation

How are flag mirrors mounted?

From KurtV:

Driver side flag mirror location? (found co-driver side measurements, but not this)

I did this on my 77s a few years back. Let me tell you, there's nothing like the exhilaration of taking a uni-bit to the door of your car!

I made a layer of masking tape to transcribe onto and wrote on it with a grease pencil, and pre-marked the steps on the unibit with masking tape so I didn't go too deep.

heh yeah, I was going to post that. I totally freaked out once I drilled the holes, temp mounted the mirror and noted them askew. This is about 5 years ago - I ran in and quickly did a rennlist archive scan!

Yes, as posted in my "NOTE:", the templates above are passenger side only. It is also made clear in the attached, associated threads.
