New Job...New Location... Should I Change My Name?

Hi All, this is probably a bit off-topic, and you probably won't care but...

I've been a bit quiet over the last month, to cut a long story short however, I have just found out that I've scored a new job.

No longer am I a fish-cop! As of next month I move 1000 miles south and back to the Brisbane area of Queensland, Australia, to begin a new job as an Environmental Investigator (Natural Resource Cop).

This is great for me as I will now be able to associate with other P-car owners, do DE's and have access to P-car shops! I have been extremely P-car remote for the past 18 months.

Anyway, should I keep Fishcop or "come-out" with my real name?!

Cheers

Keep the fishcop, it is a catchy name to have.

I like "fishcop".

Say, long as you're on, why not post some pics of your car? You know you want to... :D

Bill Douglas 03-02-2003 10:09 PM

Good call Pat lol.

Hey Fishcop, Resourcecop doesn't sound quite the same, do I still get to come and visit?

Good score getting the new job. But beware, Brisbane house prices are going wild.

BlueSkyJaunte 03-02-2003 10:14 PM

Stay with "Fishcop".

I've stayed with "BlueSkyJaunte" for 3 years and I don't even know what the hell it means.

Hey John - well done, congratulations!http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/wat6.gif

I'd play around with the name thing and see if you can come up with anything else but fishcop is how we all know you and we associate fishcopblue with you and your car so loosing it maybe a shame!

Brisbane eh...well not too far from the Goldie, which I expect is charging about as much for house prices nowadays:rolleyes:

Still you already have your house in Bris. don't you?

Anyhow excellent news and enjoy driving with the Bris. Porsche boys.

Fishcop 03-02-2003 10:54 PM

Dave, you are of course correct in your assumption....

Bill, naturally you are welcome when next in the SE corner of Qld, and you are right, polysylabolic names just don't work. We have kept our house on the Gold Coast which is fortunately experiencing the same kind of growth as Brisvegas.

Thanks to the rest of you, I think I was only seeking approval. I've been in fisheries research and protection for so long now I'm kind of sad to let go.... And it's kind of cool to have your own colour!

I'll take the minority position. I think "John Forcier" has a nice ring to it. It probably dates me as pre-internet, but I find all the nicknames are hard to keep straight.

Although, I'll admit, Fishcop is a pretty distinct handle.

John, I never get tired of looking at your car. I think I'd keep the handle.

This is where mnemonics takes the lead though...imagine trying to remember all the John's, David's, Mark's if you didn't have nicknames. I think nicknames allows us to associate much easier. eg Fishcop Blue, K9Handler etc

Tim Walsh 03-03-2003 03:27 PM

I think this community is too big to have everyone use their first name.. I can think of at least 3 Tim's here.. I like fishcop.. and I really like fishcop blue :D

pwm74 03-03-2003 03:32 PM

I always like the name MAX POWERS.

nostatic 03-03-2003 03:34 PM

Stick with Fishcop...I'm hooked. You really don't want to play bait-and-switch by changing now. You're somewhat of a leader in the region anyway. I suppose you could start a pole though...but at some point you'll have to fish or cut bait. Just don't lure us into hitting your fly.

ok...I'm tired now.

brawlins 03-03-2003 03:36 PM

Go with "EcoCop".
Keep the car, but change your name.

thabaer 03-03-2003 03:38 PM

Keep Fishcop, don't forget that golden rule about history :)

...and S.F.G.W.K.A (c'mon you can finger it out!)

pwd72s 03-03-2003 03:58 PM

I'd prefer you keep fishcop, John...but the Brisbane area? Hmmm, could I turn in my cousin (lives in newtown) for "pollution"? :D...or would you nail me for giving false information to a cop? Her hubby has an old MGB...that ought to qualify, right? I mean, think of the oil spills...

Joe Bob 03-03-2003 05:08 PM

Let's see....I have been called Air Cop, Air Nazi, Air Dork, Air Weenie, or just Dork, Weenie....ya get the drift.....

We identify with ya as Fishcop....stay with it....unless you use a symbol or segue that keeps it in context.....

Just my $.02.

The Air Putz....

SteveF_911 03-03-2003 05:34 PM

I think they have fish in Toowoomba.

Maybe you could get some weekend work.

May even see a few more Porsches

Fishcop 03-03-2003 07:57 PM

It is clear that I must keep Fishcop. I shall do so with pleasure.

Good to see you on here SteveF, severely short on Banana Benders here!

Cheers

RLJ 03-03-2003 08:55 PM

Oh No

John.....you might get sick or something if you change. I heard Tyson had a few problems when he changed his "Nic" a few years ago. Caused him to move to California....wait a minute here.....now I see a conection!

Jack, help me here you were close to Tyson when he moved, is there any thing we can to save Fishcop.

How about sitting in the shade and sipping some cold BEER. Don't rush into anything John, give it a few pints (is that the correct term)and think it over.

PS....John, if stuff looks alittle upside down when you get relaxed, comfortable, and thinking straight again, IT IS HAHAHAHAHA.
