what do you think about my compression test results?
I just made a compression test on all 6 cylinders on my '76 911S with the original 2.7 engine. It came out :
cyl. #1 145 psi cyl. #2 130 psi cyl. #3 150 psi cyl. #4 150 psi cyl. #5 150 psi cyl. #6 150 psi Its low on cyl. #2, but is it too low that I need to rebuild the engine? curious to hear some opinions. |
My two cents:
- do some reading on compression tests, incl. on adding oil for a wet test - but a leak down test is what you really need - I'd also pull the valve covers and check for broken studs (should be obvious) - if no broken studs, check the adjustment of the valve lash on #2 (and all the others, but #2 is the outlier. Best of luck, John/CT |
Are you having any issues? If not then I would just drive it and enjoy.

+1 Leak Down,
How do the spark plugs look? #2 vs all. |
