Headlight Fitment Problem

Hi All,

I'm having problems getting my headlights to fit properly. They fit top & bottom OK but I'm left with gaps between the headlamp and the rubber gaskets around the sides:

After struggling with them for ages this is the best fit I can get. Is this normal? any tips?

Cheers

Looks like your due for a new O-rings/ gaskets.
I did not use the trim rings that you have. I just painted the black rings that came on the assy. I have the same gap.

Hi Derk,

I replaced the gaskets yesterday. Headlights still fit the same!
Cheers

Tim, I'm experiencing the same problem trying to fit H4's to the 73E.

The problem seems to be the trim ring. They are very pliable. Try and lightly give it a better bend. Worked on mine.

Hi George,

If only it was the trim ring, it's the actual headlight units that don't fit properly.

Cheers

The problem might be with the head light assembly not fitting deep enough. Take another look at the way the whole assembly fits. I had to make sure that the distances were correct. Mine has the double screw set-up: The outer (hollow) screw holds the whole assembly, and the inner screw holds the trim ring. Also, the trim ring on yours seems to be sitting too high, i.e., not sitting deep enough into the tab on the fender. (Wing for you)

I'm not sure about that exact headlight, but I know when I replaced my o-ring it was a beeatch to get back on lined up. I had to use alot of "push" to get the ring back on with the new gasket.

From your picture I would say no those aren't lined up. I had to twist the ring on and push into place to line them up. Gunter could have something there, that the lights are out too far causing the mis-mount.

Good luck
