Recaro/Porsche GT1 experts called
Hi all,
I have just bought this seat, based on its unusual appearance, very light weight (<6.5lbs), and good price. While doing a first check, I have come across interesting details, see pics: With this last label, it would all make sense. With the "big ear" outside, entry would be all but impossible in a GT1 (or the seat wouldn't even fit in the car). Anyone have seen a GT1 close enough to tell me if the seat corresponds? Should I start hoding my breath? Thanks, GeorgeK |

George,
Why do you say the big ear is on the outside? It is on the inside. GT1 is left hand drive. |

John,
Oops, my bad. The ear would be on the inside. I have studied a few GT1 pics, and it would make sense. It seems there isn't room for such a big outer ear with the raked roof/doors. I wonder if anyone has seen a GT1 from close enough to confirm this to me. GeorgeK |

George,
You should try and contact Jim Smolka on this board. He and i both got a closeup look at a GT-1 around Christmas but unfortunately i have deleted the pics. I don't, however, remember the seat being anything out of the ordinary ( for the car). Jim might still have pics. Paul |

George - I have a picture from Rennsport of a GT1 head on in the pits and in looking at it it appears there might be the large "ear" on the inside for a harness.
Sorry for the quality of this attachment but I took a digital picture of my real picture. Hope it helps.

OK, I got a good reply from a GT1 owning gentleman (the race car, not the street version). The seat is indeed the version for the GT1, where entry and exit would be impossible with the "ear".
So I am now a very happy person ![]() GeorgeK |
