What Hubs are you running? Stock 76?

As far as I know they are stock 76 hubs.


In fairness the car started out as s 912E. Could possibly change things.

Bill is the Resident Specialist when it comes to wheel fitment and brakes. He is posting what can normally be done when the traditional track width and the stock fender is being used.

His posts are both accurate and cautionary. It implies that something may be out of spec on your car.

Have you done an alignment prior to fitment? Do both sides measure out the same?

BTW, nice looking wheel.

With regard to fitment. My fitment preference is not for track set up. The car will be much lower in stance then typically seen on this form.

Track width is the measurement from hub face to hub face. 54.06" if the drawing below is accurate. It doesn't imply competition specs.

Going off the bottom left front end picture. I see the hub width of 54.06” as you’ve mentioned from that drawing?

If that’s the hub to hub width my hub width isn’t anywhere near that narrow. Mine is 56-1/8” hub face to hub face.

Both sides have a front hub to inside lip of fender is 2.75”. Everything seems true and straight

I appreciate the support but track is the distance between the tire centerlines which coincides w/ the wheel center lines

it differs from hub to hub by 2x the wheel offset(ET), 6" Fuchs have ET36, this is positive in nature and so 72mm(~2.8") is added from the track to get the hub separation.

Bill what should the measurement be from face of hub to face if hub?

As noted above track is tire centerline to tire centerline, this coincides w/ wheel centerline to wheel center line. For 6" Fuchs w/ ET36, 72mm(~2.83") needs to be added to track width to get hub width.

so for the pictured car if 54.06" is the track 54.06 + 2.83 = 56.89" is the hub width

I have amended this and my previous post, a negative o/s wheel will move the track width in while a positive o/s wheel(all Fuchs) move the track width out I n each case by 2xs the ET

What I do know is from my hub face to the inside lip of my none rolled fenders on both sides is 2.75”. And I subtracted 1/4” for clearance.

for 6" Fuchs w/ ET36
in the above diagram
54.06" - 2x36mm
54.06" - 72mm
54.06" - 2.83"
51.23" is the hub width

Bill, i think your other measurements were correct. The WMS sits closer to the outside of the wheel on a positive offset wheel leaving the wheel centerline (track) inboard of the WMS. The hub to hub width is wider than the track width.

yes you are right, I was totally out of it yesterday afternoon. :(

positive ET wheels move the center line in from the hub so the wheel ET x2 need to be added to the track ti get the hub width.

I'm confidant in the setup I wanted and what we measured too. If I was building a traditional car and setup I would be worried. However considering my car is VERY FAR from traditional I believe the way I had them built will more then satisfy me liking.
