TRE IROC bumpers...
From the searching i've done it seems that the TRE are among the most recommended.
I want to find a bumper that is the closest to a sand, paint, bolt on as I can. Any advice or pitfalls to avoid would be appreciated. Thanks guys! |

Yea, I guess I just wanted to see if anyone had firsthand experience with the TRE stuff... I haven't read a bad thing about them.
I have to email them to make sure they offer an IROC rear bumper, didn't see one listed. |

I believe the TRE stuff is actually made by Getty, who has a great reputation. Another option, albeit a pricier one I believe, is EB Motorsports. I have one of their SC RS front bumpers on my SC and the fit out of the box was excellent. Very little adjustment/trimming needed. They have what they call the 3.0 RS rear bumper and it's available for SC/C32 flared cars. Rothsport is their US distributor.

I purchased front and rear bumpers from a very popular supplier, not TRE, and then decided I liked the look of the EB Motorsports 911 SCRS front better, so purchased that through Rothsport. The EB quality is infinitely superior to the other brand. Body shop was very impressed and the prep was far less intensive. There was no need to cut/trim or fill numerous pinholes in the fiberglass like the rear. Wish I had known, would have the EB rear as well.

I have the EB Motorsports SC/RS Front and Rear bumpers on my 81SC.
I also purchased their duck and all 3 pieces were great quality. There was a little trim work to be done to the duck but the bumpers were almost perfect out of the box. And, like others have shared, very very little work was required on pin holes etc. Great quality product. I am in Canada and imported all 3 pieces directly from EB UK. Chris |

Those look nice, though the shipping from the UK might make the cost prohibitive.

Call Rothsport, that's where I bought mine from. They may not have everything on their website, but they're the US distributor and should be able to get you any EB product. Ran me around $250 for freight shipping from Oregon to Pennsylvania.

My 2 cents worth guys:
The EB Motorsports parts are well made, fits very well out of the box. BUT... they do make them light weight and hence can be damaged easily. We have purchased them from our friends at Rothsport, and one came in with some shipping damage (where the box was barely touched) . My suggestion would be to add some reinforcement to the inside , or check to see if EB can make them with heavier cloth. It is a very nice replica of the SCRS bumper We will not R & D (Rip off and Duplicate) their products as I don't think that is ethical. Some have done that to our unique bits, but that is another story Our IROC and TRE H16 bumpers are made from our molds and sometimes the IROC needs a little work to fit right. But our cost is considerably lower than other offerings, so it makes up for the extra work. We are proud of the TRE H16 version (incorporated lower spoiler, larger oil cooler opening, rounded upper edges) and have had very good success with street and track clients. Rear bumpers- We have not heard any complaints on our Iroc or Ruf type rears. So I guess that one is good We even have the mold for 74-77 standard no flare rear bumpersHave fun

I used a rear bumper from TRE and it was awesome quality. Nice finish, and straight. The wheel arches needed a bit of sanding to have a perfect fit, but there was enough material to do it right.
I still have a front bumper that I ended up not using it's for sale in San Diego. Check out some pix ![]() ![]()

Tre is good, better than most but they will still need work...
I’ve only found 1 company that is truly boldton... and they were north of $1000 each bumper

You would think that with the 3d scanning technology and modern CAD tools you could make a perfect dataset to cut forms from.

you can. but fiberglass is a whole other beast. it can do a bit of it's own thing, especially if the piece is made thin...

The TRE bumper I used was sticking out at the rear wheel arches, but the fiberglass was thick there, so it was easy to sand down to exactly what I needed. IMO it's better if you have a bit extra that you can cut from than too small. It was really easy to work with as opposed to my front bumper which took a lot more work to prep and it still was not as flat (on the top) as the TRE. There is really no body panel that just bolts on and it fits right. You always need to work on adjustments and getting the gaps and heights right etc...
my $0.02

I have Getty made panels (long hood backdate parts, so not exactly what you are looking for) being a former kitcar guy, I can vouch for the Getty quality for those.
Just remember that very few panels are going to fit perfectly, as the factory did quite a bit of hand finishing in those days. Not like the computer fitted stuff of today.

I have had TRE front and rear RS bumpers on my RS for years. Good product.
My RS has Bursch 3 glass pack exhaust which was close to the fiber glass, so i put in an aluminum heat shield to protect the fiberglass bumper. In the front I built a 1/4" square tubing welded frame around the oil cooler opening, and attached it to the steel bumper mounts. This was to stop the glass from cracking when it hit driveways etc.. This still was glassed into the back of the bumper. Later I installed a TRE carbon fiber splitter at the bottom of the front RS bumper, and in the center under the splitter, I installed 1/4" aluminum plate to act as a skidplate so the aluminum wears and not the carbon splitter. This has worked well with several years service. I will try to post some close up photos.

About 4 people have chimed in on this thread about the EB Motorsport SCRS bumpers, but when I do a Google image search the same old handful of pictures come back. Let's see some of those cars! I have considered on of the narrow SCRS bumpers but on some cars it looks great and others not so much.. |
