Yes. Positively. Actually, I believe that is the stock unit for Euro models (ROW) only and is quite rare.

To verify - I have the original dealer brochure for my 81SC and it has a picture of that exact compressor in the front trunk - little blue box, exact little compressor and all. I just pulled it out. If you wish, I can snap a picture of it with my blackberry and email to you. PM me if you wish.

I believe the little blue box ones were only on ROWs (I could be wrong). I think the US models got the cheesy looking white/grey compressor in a black box.

I saw one of the compressors like yours on ebay about 1.5 yrs ago and it was snapped up with bids well over $100 or so.

Hang onto it. The super-hardcore concours guys know...

My 1976 dealer brochure has the little blue box pictured in the front trunk of a 912E.

I bought this one off US eBay, apparently from a 1982 car - looks similar to yours, but not the same; is actually made in Canada, for the German company BDW, who also made the more familiar white-cased compressors, as well as the rarer orange cased ones which I think came with the Euro mid-year Carreras.

I have the original from my '81. It's off-white and came in a black bag IIRC.

How about the original first aid kit (required to be in the car in Germany) in a ROW '84 imported to the States, then shipped back to Germany?

Pictures sent via email. In my 81 brochure, it is clearly the BAYR one in don's first picture above with the blue tag on the compressor body. I wil try to post them here if possible.

Supporting Poorsche's post above, I believe ROWs got the blue box ones while US models got the off-white ones that came in a black bag or box. I am assuming Poorsche has a US model. Of course this was until the more common black box Carrera style compressors took effect.
