Rennsport Coral

anyone experienced with this issue? I am planning on bringing my 67 911S hot rod out to the Pebble Beach Car week, storing it until Rennsport - then take it to Rennsport. However I just found out that the Coral is closed - so the whole plan may have to be dropped. Mostly due to the premium costs to transport this car out in the first place.

Any ideas?

Thanks everyone in advance

Mark

You can store it in my garage in San Jose.

I did something similar with a Lamborghini during the 50th Anniversary in 2013. Showed it at Concorso Italiano and wanted to leave it there for about 4-5 weeks until I would be back for another event. My solution involved the event promotor reaching out to an exotic car dealer who agreed to display the car in their showroom with the Italian Stampede livery still on it for the duration. No cost to me plus I got a free detail and a bunch of swag from the dealer. Sometimes it just takes the "right person" to pose the question.

Hot Rod 911's are very popular right now so you may be able to find a similar solution.

Corrals have been sold out for months. When it comes to Rennsport you gotta plan ahead. That said, peoples' plans change. Place WTB ads here and on EarlyS, Rennlist, etc and you'll probably snag one. Good luck.

PCA is looking for cars to display in their 70 year history Coral. But you need to leave it with them the four days.

PCA is looking for fine examples of all Porsche models to be included in the Historical 70 Years of Porsche display at Rennsport Reunion VI. It will be a display representing all seven decades of Porsche. Their goal for this display will be to showcase Porsche models from the early 1950's to present. Their display will be on the grass area near the island, close to the PCA Hospitality tent and the Porsche corral. They will need your car for all four days, Thursday through Sunday, September 27-30. If you have a Porsche that you would like them to consider, please contact Tom Provasi at tomprovasi@gmail.com and supply a brief description and photograph of your vehicle

the corral is naught but a gravel parking lot closer to the infield gate; very few folks actually bother to walk around the corrals & see our displayed treasures

- our cars are covered with gritty dust by noontime - if left o'nite assaulted by salt-fog = muddy grit

RRV was not a good experience for my car, and i was in the "special" PCA history corral exhibit on real grass

i did get a nice concours badge for the experience! (looks good in the trophy case)

I’m driving my 911 from Minnesota. Pretty sure it’ll be covered in gritty road debris and bugs less than 2 hours from home.

thanks guys. I have a storage unit in a hanger at the Monterey airport. Friend of mine stores cars there for these events. Yes - it is a gritty dusty mess at the coral. Walked thru it a few times, however there are so many Porsches there - that you just sprint by most of them. I completely understand the - "well, that wasn't what I expected" attitude here. Maybe - not such a great idea.

Also, my bad - last minute decision on my part.
