No high frequent sound from the CDI unit...
Yesterday I had the blowerfan and case on my -74 powdercoated, but today when finished assemblied and ready for start up, there is no high frequent sound from the CDI unit and no or very little voltage to the fuel pump.
I do not see how my painwork is related to the powerloss, but I then again can it be some ground issues. I have ground on the fancase through the coil screws attachment. |
'74 CDI grounds through the shield wire on the CDI case. The +12V is the centre pin of the 3 pin plug. Check for 12V across these two points with a test bulb.
|
Do get +12V in the centre pin.
By the way, I do hear the frequent sound from the CDI unit, but only if I stick my hear very close. Normaly the sound is very high. And why do I suddenly get no voltage to the fuel pump...? |
By case, you meant the fan housing ? Check the ground connections around the coil plate.
|
You’re ground, shielded wire outside
If the wire inside is breaking down the volts to the points is crossing to the shielded wire. Use 3 alagator clip wires and replace the wires in the harness Bruce |
Bruce,
Have you considered writing a book? Might be worth while. |
Thanks, Gordon
