Question Koni Question

Are the rear Koni shocks adjustable as are the fronts?

The PO had Konis Sports shocks installed and I've had no problem with adjustment on the front. just wondering about the rears

If so, how do you do it?

thx,
todd

The ones I have are. You have to remove the shocks to set them.

Ok, I don't have Koni's but this has me curious. How do you set them?

My old (dearly departed) SVO Mustang had Koni shocks, the rears were adjusted by unbolting the lower mount and compressing the shock. Apparently some teeth on one end would engage an adjusting wheel at the other, and you rotated the bottom to turn the wheel and change the settings.

Is it still like this, or are the 911 Koni's different?

Tom

I believe the gas charged versions are like this where you need to remove one mounting bolt....look for another thread like this where I go into more detail...
I have hydraulic rears that are top-side adjustable via the small white removable knob like the gas charged fronts. nice.

The ones I have you need to remove the shield then depress a button and turn the shaft. I think it has 4 or 5 detents where you can stop the rotation at the desired stiffness.

Kind of funny, I was looking through the archives on a completely unrelated topic, and came across this picture:

Looks like the directions are on the shock.

Cool! I'll have to get under there this weekend (while I'm already under there already for fixing a heater cable). Maybe there is some info on the Koni web site. I'll have to check that out this eve after wk.

If the PO set the rears as the fronts were on my car when I got it (max damp) I should be looking at a more compliant ride next week.

thx,
todd
