Replacing crossover oil line on SSI car
Background
My car is a 1980 US-spec SC that a PO has put SSIs on and thus changed the oil lines. I've recently had the engine out for a rebuild and in the process I noticed that the threads on the nut on the crossover oil line were really bad. So I decided to replace it. Ordered part #91110773910 from a supplier here in the EU and proceeded to remove the heat exchanger and the old pipe. Problem When trying to fit the new pipe it simply wouldn't fit. Comparing the pipes closer it turns out the new one is quite different on the engine side as can be seen in the image below. - Are there different versions of this pipe or is it down to different manufacturers? - Can this be fixed by someone used to bending pipes? ![]() Cheers, Björn

There was a thread on this just a week or two ago.
The aftermarket lines are not shaped correctly. You need to bend it to fit or order the factory Porsche part. SSI install derailed by out of spec oil lines

keep the original line , order the elephant racing nut for 50 bucks if it works in this location and call it a day.

That is my thread 1979-930 linked. Everything is installed and working now, it just took some additional effort.
Using the elephant racing nut seems like the best solution if the rest of the line is in good condition. Otherwise having the old one to use as a template will make bending the new one easier. It doesn't have to be perfect, mine was still pretty far off but I followed the advice I was given and got everything loosely fitted then tightened everything together and used an old piece of radiator hose to wedge between the line and the engine block to prevent rubbing. Good luck
