Limerock Historical Fest
Anyone planning on heading up tomorrow? I plan on driving up and will be in the Porsche corral. I’ll be the one in the 930 with three kids.
Hope to meet some Pelicans. Will Last edited by OldSpool87; 08-31-2018 at 10:39 AM.. Reason: Spelling |

I went today. Not as many Porsche's as I've seen in previous years, but there were 70 Bugatti's scattered about (the featured marque).
Most of the Bugatti's that are racing are under a large tent near the tower. Try to be there when they roll out to line up for their race. Pretty cool. Mark

I've never seen so many people @ LRP !!
I've only been there for PCA DE days. I enjoyed walking around the parking lot. Every enthusiast car was represented. I never understood the appeal of watching car racing so I walked around the paddock and then left after about an hour. My ears thanked me.

Here are a few 911's at speed. I've got so many 911 photos from previous years that I didn't take many this time.

Mark, what shutter speed did you use ? What lens and body?

These were with a Canon 5DIV and a 70-200 f/2.8 IS lens. I vary the shutter speed depending on how fast the cars are going, since I want to blur the wheels and the background to give a sense of motion. The 911's were on a slow part of the track (coming out of Big Bend), so I was at 1/80 to 1/125. The Bugatti's are at 1/160, but I should have been lower. It's a trade-off, since the slower the shutter the fewer the keepers. But I think it's worth it even if only 1 in 10 is sharp.
I have also used a 100-400II, and given the distance I probably should have had that lens mounted instead of the 70-200, but I was feeling lazy. These photos are cropped more than I would have liked. Here is a 1973 RSR from 2016, shot with a Canon 7DII and the 100-400, shutter speed 1/160: ![]() And one of my favorites from that year, a 1955 Lancia D50 F1 car recreation (from original mechanicals). There were two there that year, this one was privately owned and the Revs Institute also brought one. Also with the 7DII, 100-400, 1/160: ![]() Mark
