Alignment Problem
 

I have a 1977 Euro 911 that I'm trying to align prior to mounting new tires. The rear adjustments were just loosened, cleaned and lubricated as they were frozen. Today the shop couldn't align the toe on the right rear saying and videoing the adjuster screw turning but not moving the toe setting at all

Any idea what is going on?

Did they loosen the fixing bolts at the end of the spring plate arm? Is the trailing arm stuck to the spring plate?

If shop is not familiar with our 911s they will not know.

Also note when you move rear toe it will affect camber visaversa.

Should put new tires on first then align.

They were setting both toe and camber. They lossened, cleaned and lubricaded enough to get the rear wheel to move/adjust. One side works the adjuster for toe on one side doesn’t adjust.

They are experience with mid year 911s

Do the adjustment bolts strip out?

If the spring plates are bent and do not properly contact the trailing arm then the cam on the adjuster bolts will not properly seat into the backside. This will prevent them from push/pull on the adjustment range. You can tighten the nut on the adjuster bolt until they just get tight and then make the adjustment. also make sure the toe and camber bolts were not reversed. This is not easy but can happen.

Sometimes but it should not stop you from moving the plates unless the nut is seized on.
