Early 911 tail light assembly help

I need to replace a turn signal bulb - unscrewed the tail light assembly and ???? The lense tabs appear to be melted on the back side of the slots in the assembly.

Before I start breaking things, what is the correct way to get into the assembly and replace the bulbs??

Thanks

The bulb holders are the white plastic parts that you can see on the top of the housing where the wires attach. They just pull up and out. Then you can change the bulb. Press back in to replace.
The early lamp assemblies have the lense permanantely attached to the housing. There are replacement lenses now available. Anyone installed them yet? Do they have the (Bosch) part numbers etc. on them, or is that lost when they were copied?

Thanks Stuart. I knew it had to be removing the plastic part or the lense, just didn't want to guess wrong an break something.

I've replaced the front lens' on a 1967 912, and man, was it a royal pain! You have to get a flat attachement for your soldering iron to melt the plastic ears once you reassemble the housing and lens. The biggest problem is sealing the unit once you're done, because though there are replacement lens available there is no lens seal available. This is the original seal for the plastic lens to the light housing. So, the only remedy is to mask the housing and the lens and use silicone. And be sure to get clear, external UV resistant stuff, or it will yellow and degrade.

The melting part doesn't sound good (short or corrosion before the load). I took all the bulbs out and soaked the housing with WD-40 to prevent aluminum corrosion as well. Those turn signal assemblys can be hard to find sometimes.

If I'm not mistaken 1969 was the first year to have removable lenses?
