1982 SC wiper pump “retro fit” - power question

I am retro fitting a wiper pump in my car. The PO removes all the relays behind the Oil pressure and temp combo gauge. I get power back probing the yellow and brown wires on the multi wire connector coming off the interval wiper relay when the wiper stalk is pulled back (like one would do to spray wiper fluid).

Can I just remove the yellow (86) and brown (31) spades from the connector and run it direct to my new pump? Or do I need to install a relay?
