Question Oil Pressure Warning Light Switch

2 Part Question

1. Since I Installed Hot Start Kit Bosch WR1?…My Oil Pressure Warning Light DIMMLY Lit On Start Up….Coincidence??

2. Got A New Switch (OEM Porsche) Now Once And For All, IS There a way to get at its location Without Tearing Off The Entire Inj System Or Partially Dropping The Engine….I Saw Some Dude say that with an extension & Swivel He Was Able To Get At It……..Poppycock??….LOL

Just did mine. No partial drop. Remove the air filter cover and air intake boot, use a flashlight and mirror to locate the pressure switch and feel around till you can unplug the wire (not an easy task) then guide a socket and short (maybe 4") extension down onto it. Pay attention to the position of the extension once you get it on the pressure switch as it will help you find the hole when you install the new one.

I don't remember what size socket it was but I removed the rubber insert from one of my spark plug sockets and inserted it into the other one to hold the sender in the socket.

I may have gotten lucky but I was done in less then 1/2 an hour.

also, what are the RPM at start where the light flickers? lower now than before the kit? just because the light is flickering does not mean the sender is bad. I had an adjustable sender on a racercar that I had set for a strong flicker at full warmed up idle. by the time the OE sender comes on your motor has been starved to the point it's damaged.

Thank You Pete…Thats What I'm Trying To Hear…..Juan, Its An 83 911SC With The Jetronic Fuel Inj…….And The Light Bright/Dim Does Not Change With RMP'S…Of Course The Numbered Pressure Guage Is Reading 4/5 Bar Like Always And The Pull off a Warm Dipstick Tells Me Everything Else Seems Normal With The System…..Thank You All

I'm probably the dude that said you can do it with an extension and a swivel. I hadn't properly tightened it before reinstalling the engine (lesson learned: check, check and triple check) and oil started spewing on first start. I had to do a partial drop and remove the 'pope hat' to get clearance but, yes, it is possible. That was a lot easier than dropping the whole engine again. I think it was something like a 22mm or 24mm socket. I also have a set of stubby ratchets and that helped too. When a say partial drop, I mean you just need a few inches.

Thanks Tim….I'm Gonna Give It "The Porsche Try"…..Anything Is More Convenient Than Dropping The Engine, Don't Wanna Do That Till I Have 15K To Spend

Can the air intake intake boot be removed on the 82 CIS to gain access to the oil pressure switch sender without a partial engine drop?

Mine just started leaking a few months ago.

Thanks !
